Sustainability vs. Sustainable Development

Sustainable Development – “…is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs...” *

Sustainability – “capable of being sustained; capable of being continued with minimal long‐term impact or without exhausting resources; non‐inflationary”

Mining activities can contribute to both sustainable development and to sustainability.
